Has anyone had any dealings with this company? I am thinking of joining it but wanted a little input.

Thu, January 22, 2004 - 4:35 PMHaven't had any dealings with them, but have corresponded with quite a few who did and lost. From what I hear it's best that they dry up and go away.

Re: Service Magic? (servicemagic.com)
Fri, January 23, 2004 - 2:27 AMMike,
I never heard of this so this is slightly off-topic.
Independent of the decision (and the advice is pretty clear as to which way you should decide), what is the attraction? What about the business model, the product/service, the people makes such a venture interesting?
Is there any way to get similar benefits through your real estate efforts?

Re: Service Magic? (servicemagic.com)
Fri, January 23, 2004 - 3:26 PMWell John,
they claim they prescreen qualified buyers and sellers then send you info. on the lead. Its your choice then to accept it or not. If you do there is a $30 fee for buyers, $40 for sellers and $60 for someone that wants to list a prop. and buy another in the same area. I found their link on "AT&T's" anywho.com website. They claim a 1 out of 10 success rate.
Everyone is always looking for an alt. to the MLS.
Sounds like its not all its cracked up to be.

Re: Service Magic? (servicemagic.com)
Fri, January 23, 2004 - 4:14 PMI definitely did not know what you were talking about. This is not what I was expecting...
If you only pay after they deliver (at least the sellers/lintings) then maybe the risk is where it needs to be. Buyers are a different animal as I am sure you know.

Re: Service Magic? (servicemagic.com)
Fri, January 23, 2004 - 4:19 PMThey do sing a sweet song. Most companys of this nature get a larger cut at the closing. These guys its a small flat rate.

Fri, January 23, 2004 - 4:23 PMOf coarse this way (paying up front) they get their cut even if you don't close.
